This weekend sees the centenary of the opening of Gateshead Central Library on 7th March 1925, and the founding of the Gateshead Libraries service.  To celebrate this event, we held a ‘Teddy Bear’s Picnic’ for local preschool children and their familes, as well as a celebration cakes and coffee event for our library users, and a display celebrating the talents of local authors.

The children involved were all presented with a colourful book to commemorate the occasion. The children all enjoyed singing and dancing, and hunting around the library to find the hidden Teddy Bears.
